I have been asking myself this question for the last few days. The truth is that I am hoping it will make me more accountable, to the anonymous world at large, I guess.
I intend to chart my progress along the the road to becoming an entrepreneur or more accurately a solopreneur. There are many stories of other people who have gone after and achieved their dreams. They are helpful and inspirational but much of their stories are told in the past tense, they lack the real-time sense of what each struggle and success felt like. These stories are told from an arrival point of view. "Looking back this is how I became successful, achieved my goals, reached my dream."
Perhaps it is true that people only want to read the words of someone who has already "made it." But I have wished to hear the stories of those who are just starting the journey. Others who have hope in their hearts but no guarantee or track-record of success. We who know the the process will call on us to have more patience, more courage, more discipline, more flexibility, more focus, more skills than we currently posses. Indeed the process is about reaching for more, becoming more. That is why we do it, I think. To be more, more than who we are today.
I am not yet a successful solopreneur but I may be someday. My story starts at the beginning of that process not at the end. My goals are three-fold:
- As stated above I hope to be accountable to making weekly entries and there-fore weekly progress toward my goals.
- I hope that these entries will give others a different perspective on what it looks and feels like to go after your dreams.
- I hope to hear the stories of others who are reaching for more in their lives.
"The important thing is this: to be able at any moment to sacrifice what we are for what we could become." - Charles DuBois -
